Common queries asked during the claim process of auto glass repair no fault insurance claim.
What is the name of the insurer? Most insurance providers will only take the claim from the you. (However, we can help you file the claim and stay on the line during the entire auto glass repair claim process.)
What is your policy number? Some of the insurance providers have different policy numbers for each automobile listed on the policy. State Farm insurance is one of these companies.
What piece of glass got damaged on the car? Was it the Windshield, Vent Glass, Door Glass, Back Glass or Quarter Glass. If you carry the glass endorsement on your insurance policy, all glass parts will be covered including the ones listed above and sometime mirrors)
Are there are any damages other than then your automobile windshield or glass? If the answer is yes, you will be required to pay the comprehensive deductible as required by the policy. Let’s say that your door glass was broken when someone was breaking into your car and they not only broke your door glass but also caused some scratches and dents on the outside of your door. If you are claiming these additional damages then you will have to pay for your comprehensive deductible even if you carry the auto glass repair endorsement coverage on your comprehensive policy. This is because most insurance companies will make you pay your deductible up front for any damage done to your car. So, you may be required to pay for the cost of the glass up to your deductible amount. We recommend that if you have additional damages and the repair costs will be under your deductible amount, to pay for the repairs out-of-pocket and not claim the additional damages.
Did any person get injured because of the car windshield or glass damage?
Did you file a claim with your insurance provider? If you only talked to your agent and if there are no other damages there will be no claim number and hence the answer is no.
When did the car windshield or auto glass loss occur? The insurance company can’t pick the date of damage for you. If you don’t know the exact time when the damage occurred, state the time when you noticed the damage for the first time or the date when the break spread. Be sure that your coverage wasn’t expired on this date of damage. Remember, if you mention the date of damage in the past which is longer than 6 months or so, the insurance provider may have to archive the information regarding this which will take more time and your claim will be delayed.
In what state did the auto glass damage take place? In most cases the answer is Arizona.
What is the size of the damaged area on the windshield? Is it larger than the size of a paper dollar bill? If the answer is yes, then the insurance company will request that you have the windshield repaired versus replaced. It is not clear who will have the final say; You, Arizona Department of Transportation, Insurance Company, or the auto glass repair shop. However, we believe that you still have the right to choose. (After all, you pay for the coverage) See below for additional auto glass repair claim information and your insurance company.
Auto Glass Repair Claims and Your Insurance Company
A third party administrator (TPA) is utilized by many insurance companies for filing auto glass repair insurance claims on behalf of insurance companies. Safelite Solutions and LYNX Services are two of the largest TPA providers. Peoria Auto Glass Repair is supported by both these providers and is the preferred choice of many insurance companies.
Safelite Solutions (the TPA) should not be confused with Safelite Auto Glass (the auto glass service provider). Although, the two companies are financially affiliated they are legally ran as separate entities. However, is you call your insurance company and they are a member of the Safelite Solutions Auto Glass Program and you do not have a shop preference, more than likely Safelite Solutions will send you to their financially affiliated store Safelite Auto Glass. Remember, in Arizona, you have the right to choose your auto glass repair facility by law. In addition, Peoria Auto Glass Repair will never overcharge your insurance company. We accept all insurance contract “fair and reasonable” pricing structures so that there will never be any additional out-of-pocket costs for you or your insurance company.
Insurance companies that utilize Safelite Solutions for windshield replacement claim handling include; Farmers, Geico, Hartford, Liberty Mutual, Progressive, Esurance, American Family, Nationwide, USAA, and hundreds more. Therefore, if you called your insurance company to file a auto glass repair claim that was a part of the Safelite Solutions Auto Glass Program, they would automatically direct you to Safelite Solutions.
Peoria Auto Glass Repair can help you file your glass insurance claim. Call us direct and one of our friendly claim representatives will connect you to the proper auto glass program center. Our claim representative can answer all of your questions and concerns prior to connecting you to your insurance company. In addition, we will stay on the line with you throughout the entire windshield claim process.
Safelite Solutions requires the policyholder to be available while filing an auto glass claim to avoid any fraudulent claims. It is important to have your policy number available because the third party administrator may or may not be permitted to access all your insurance policy information. A auto glass repair insurance claim can be filed in just ten to fifteen minutes.
LYNX Services is the second largest third-party glass administrator (TPA). The two largest insurance companies that utilize their service include State Farm and Allstate. Peoria Windshield Replacement is a member of LYNX Services. LYNX Services does not own a auto glass repair facility but allows auto glass shops to bid on jobs. What this means, is that if you were to call Allstate or State Farm, to file a windshield claim they would transfer you to LYNX Services. LYNX Services will take your claim and based off of location and price, send you to that preferred shop. Now, this doesn’t mean that your insurance company will save money.
As I mentioned, LYNX allows shops to bid on jobs, meaning the deeper the discount that you give LYNX, the more profit they will make. Insurance companies have to pay fair and reasonable prices based off of NAGS (National Auto Glass) benchmark pricing. Therefore, State Farm and Allstate tell LYNX Services what they will pay, and any profit in between will be LYNX Services.
Although, Peoria Auto Glass is a member of LYNX Services and honors all insurance pricing, some insurance companies such as State Farm does not allow windshield repair shops to offer incentives to their policyholders. Because Peoria Auto Glass offers $50 Cash Back with any $0 deductible auto glass repair insurance claim, LYNX Services reads a disclaimer saying that you have the right to choose your auto glass repair facility but you may want to be sure that they will not be any additional charges. Rest assured, guaranteed, Peoria Auto Glass, will never charge you or your insurance company any additional out of pocket expenses. In fact, you will hear us agree to all terms during the conference all between us, you, and LYNX Services.
Funny though, State Farm/LYNX Services will accept profits based off of deep discounts but won’t allow auto glass repair shops to offer cash incentives to their policyholders direct. Let’s see…It’s ok, if State Farm/LYNX accepts gifts in the form of discounts but not ok for windshield repair shops to give gifts to the customer direct. Ummm. Something seems wrong with this picture.

In what state did the damage take place?
What is the size of the damage area on the windshield? Is it larger than the size of a paper dollar bill? If the answer is yes, then the insurance company will request that you have the windshield repaired versus replaced. It is not clear who will have the final say; You, Arizona Department of Transportation, Insurance Company, or the Windshield Repair Facility. However, we believe that you still have the right to choose. (After all, you pay for the coverage)
Before authorizing the auto glass repair facility for replacement, some insurance companies require random inspections of the damage. These inspections are to confirm that the windshield is really broken and to verify that the windshield in not repairable. First, as I mentioned earlier, you pay the glass premium therefore it should be your right to decide whether your windshield gets repaired or replaced. Additionally, it sounds like, these insurance companies are trying to make it there right by establishing a new industry practice. It is up to you (insurance policyholders) to prevent this from happening. Like everything else, insurance companies are trying to pay fewer claims and charge more.
Geico, American Family, and now USAA are some of these insurance companies that are participating in this practice. These insurance companies will send out an adjuster and we have seen in the past that they were utilizing direct competitors of Arizona Auto Glass to perform these inspections. As mentioned above, Geico, American Family, and USAA employ Safelite Solutions to file claims on their behalf. Also remember, Safelite Solutions and Safelite Auto Glass are financially affiliated. Guess who Safelite Solutions hires on behalf of these insurance companies to perform these random inspections? You got it…… Safelite Auto Glass.
Unethical? We absolutely think so. However, not illegal, yet. We believe that random inspections are unnecessary and are performed only to delay the automobile windshield claim process and make the claim filing inconvenient for you (illegal practice).
These insurance companies state that random inspections are performed for your benefit (keep your rates low) and to limit fraudulent claims. Now, all auto glass claims must be reported by the named policyholder (by you) directly. The TPA or insurance company verifies the policyholder’s identity by various ways such as; date of birth, how many cars on policy, and address. So, they know the policyholder themselves are filing the claim so this eliminates identity theft fraudulent claims. I guess these insurance companies just don’t trust that you (the insured) know what a broken windshield looks like.
So, Geico, USAA, and American Family, send out a competitor or maybe now (a legitimate insurance adjuster) to look at your broken windshield. Yep, they show up at your home or business (whenever they have an adjuster/competitor available) and say; “By golly, your windshield is broken”. Wow, how does that save you money and keep fraudulent claims down.
Let’s see…Do they think that your windshield is really not broken and you are in cahoots with a windshield repair shop to get $50 bucks? Possible, but I highly doubt it! I would bet that the majority of you don’t have that kind of relationship with your windshield repair shop. Or, maybe, your windshield repair shop is replacing your windshield when it can be repaired. (Remember, you or the policyholder themselves have to file the claim and describe the damage) Ummm, so, that can’t be it.
Peoria Auto Glass believes that these insurance companies don’t trust you and think that you are somehow in cahoots with Glass Company to make a buck. Realistically, if a policyholder exaggerated the damage on their windshield when filing the claim in order to get it replaced rather than repaired to be eligible for the $50 Cash back incentive, wouldn’t they be smart enough to make the break larger before the inspection? ?? NO! Peoria Windshield Replacement does NOT condone this type of behavior. That would be just as unethical as the insurance practice.
After filing of the claim, many insurance providers are able to affirm the coverage while reporting the auto glass repair claim and authorize the glass shop to do the work and repair the damage. Since the TPA doesn’t have direct access to the policy information some of the insurance companies have to use an offline verification method. In such a case, the insurance company will be emailed by the TPA to verify the coverage and you will be then called back later. In these cases, we are not authorized to do the work until the verification of coverage. The process of verification is usually completed in about 24 hours. In case of an emergency, your agent will be called directly by the Peoria Auto Glass to obtain coverage details.
